How to record a video with your webcam
- Press Turn on camera and allow the camera and microphone when your browser asks. You’ll see a preview, and nothing is recorded yet.
- Pick another camera or microphone if you have more than one, then press Record. Space starts and stops recording too, and resumes after a pause.
- Play the video back and press Download. Record again to add another take to the list.
Tips for a better webcam video
- Light your face from the front. A window or lamp behind the screen works well. Light from behind you turns you into a silhouette.
- Raise the camera to eye level. A stack of books under a laptop avoids the looking-up-your-nose angle.
- Check first. Our webcam test shows the camera’s real resolution and frame rate, and the mic test shows your sound level.
- Edit afterwards. Cut the start and end with trim video or make the file smaller with compress video.
