How to record your voice online

  1. Press Start recording and allow the microphone when your browser asks. Recording starts right away and the bars show how loud you are.
  2. Press Pause to take a break without starting a new file, and Stop when you’re done. Space starts and stops recording too, and resumes after a pause.
  3. Play the take back, then press Download MP3. WAV and the original file are there too. Each new recording is added to the list, so you can keep the best take.

Getting a clean recording

  • Check the level first. The bars should move well up when you speak, without hitting the top all the time. Our mic test shows the level in detail.
  • Get close and stay put. About a hand’s width from the microphone gives a clear voice with less room echo.
  • Pick a quiet, soft room. Curtains, carpets and furniture soak up echo. A bare kitchen or bathroom makes everything sound hollow.
  • Trim afterwards. To cut the silence at the start and end, use trim MP3. To turn speech into text, try speech to text.
