Will trimming lower the quality of my MP3?
No. The MP3 data between your cut points is copied as it is, without being decoded and compressed again, so the sound is exactly the same as before. Fades and removing a part change the sound itself, so then the audio is encoded again at the file’s own bitrate.
Can I cut a part out of the middle?
Yes. Choose Selection: Remove it, select the part to drop and save. The two sides are joined with a 10 millisecond crossfade so the join doesn’t click. Play around the cut lets you hear the join first.
Can I add a fade in or fade out?
Yes. Pick In, Out or Both under Fade and set the length in seconds. A fade out is the usual way to end a ringtone or a clip from the middle of a song.
Why does the cut land a few milliseconds from where I put it?
MP3 audio is stored in frames of about 26 milliseconds, and a lossless cut has to happen on a frame boundary. The difference is far too small to hear.
Can I make a ringtone with this?
Yes. Most phones accept ringtones up to 30 to 40 seconds. Select the part you want, check the length shown next to the times, and trim. iPhones need the M4R format, which this tool doesn’t create yet.
Is my MP3 uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
