Runs in your browser. Nothing uploaded.

How to trim a video

  1. Drop your video into the box or choose it. A strip of frames shows its timeline.
  2. Drag the start and end handles, or type the times. Click the strip to jump the player there, and press Space or Play to check the selection. Zoom in on the strip for a precise cut.
  3. Click Cut and download to save the trimmed video. Long videos take a while; Cancel stops the export.

Precise cuts

Use the arrow keys on a selected handle to nudge it by a tenth of a second, or hold Shift to move a whole second. The comma and full stop keys step one frame back or forward. You can also play the video, pause it at the exact moment, and use the buttons next to the start and end times to set them to the playhead.

Keeping files small

Exact mode saves an MP4 as H.264, which plays everywhere, at about the bitrate of the original, so the clip doesn’t come out bigger than the video it came from. WebM videos stay WebM. To make the clip smaller for messaging apps afterwards, run it through the video compressor.
