How to merge videos
- Drop two or more video clips into the box or choose them. Each one shows its length and size.
- Drag the clips into the order you want. Pick the size of the result and how clips of another shape should fit.
- Click Merge clips, watch the result, then download the MP4.
Joining clips without losing quality
Most video files are compressed with settings recorded at the start of the file. When every clip was made with the same settings, typically by the same phone or camera in the same mode, the compressed data can simply be copied one clip after another. Nothing is decoded or encoded again, so the merge takes seconds and the quality is exactly the original’s.
When the clips differ in size, frame rate, codec or settings, that shortcut would produce a broken file. Instead each clip is decoded, its frames are scaled to the common size and the whole video is encoded again. The sound of every clip is converted to the same sample rate and placed exactly where its clip starts.
Tips
- Order first: drag the clips into place before merging. The first clip decides the size when Same as first clip is chosen.
- Mixed portrait and landscape: put a landscape clip first for a landscape video, or a portrait one for a vertical video for Stories, Reels or TikTok.
- Cut the slack: remove the start and end of each clip with trim video before joining, then use compress video if the result is too big to send.
