How to make a circle in Minecraft
- Type the Diameter: how many blocks wide the circle should be. Choose Thin, Thick or Filled.
- Build from the chart. The shaded middle row and column mark the centre, and the numbers along the edges help you count. Point at any row to see exactly which blocks it needs.
- Click blocks to tick them off as you place them, or download the chart as a PNG or SVG to keep it on a second screen.
How the circle is worked out
The tool draws a perfect circle of the size you choose over a grid and fills every block whose centre falls inside it. For an outline, it keeps only the blocks on the edge. This is the same method most pixel circle charts use, so the result matches what experienced builders expect.
If you need a bigger or smaller version that keeps the same look, change the diameter rather than scaling a picture of the chart. Scaled charts lose blocks on the curves.
Building tips
- Mark the centre first. Place a block at the centre and count out to the four edges along the shaded row and column. Those four points pin the circle down.
- Build one quarter, then mirror it. A circle is the same in all four quarters, so once one is right the rest is copying.
- Work row by row. Point at a row on the chart and it lists each run of blocks, such as 5 from column 11, so you can count without squinting.
- Use a cheap block first. Lay the outline in dirt or wool, check it from above, then replace it with the real material.
For egg shapes, arenas and elliptical rooms, use the oval generator. For domes and planets, the sphere generator shows each layer in turn.
