How to build a sphere in Minecraft
- Enter the Diameter and pick Thin, Thick or Filled.
- The chart opens on the widest layer. Move to layer 1, the bottom, with the slider or −, build it, then press + to move up and build the next layer on top.
- Keep going up to the top layer for a full sphere. For a dome, start at the middle layer instead of layer 1. Click blocks to tick them off as you place them; ticks are kept for each layer, so you can look at the next one and come back.
Building a sphere without losing your place
Spheres go wrong when you lose count halfway up. A few habits help:
- Mark the centre column. Put a pillar of a different block in the middle, as tall as the sphere. Every layer is centred on it, and you can remove it at the end.
- Build each layer as a ring around the pillar, using the shaded row and column on the chart to line up.
- Tick blocks off by clicking them on the chart, and clear the ticks when you move to a new layer.
- Gather blocks per layer. The layer count tells you exactly what to carry up.
Planets, domes and bubbles
Hollow spheres make planets, glass biodomes, hot air balloons and treetops. A filled sphere is better for a large boulder or the core of a planet you plan to carve into. For a dome over a base, build the top half in glass and the bottom half underground or leave it out.
Each layer is just a circle, so the circle generator is handy for the widest ring on its own.
