How to pick a random number
- Set the lowest and highest number you want. Both are included.
- Choose how many numbers to pick, and tick No repeats if each number may only come up once.
- Click Pick again, or press Space or Enter, for a new pick. Set Decimal places above 0 for numbers like 3.75.
Fair picks
A good random pick gives every number exactly the same chance. A common shortcut in code, taking a random number and using the remainder after dividing by the range, slightly favours the low numbers. This generator throws away the draws that would cause that bias, so 1 to 7 is as fair as 1 to 8.
Common uses

- Picking who goes first, or a random question, page or seat.
- Lottery numbers, bingo calls and board games.
- Random samples for surveys, testing and spot checks.
