How to flip a coin online

  1. The coin is flipped as soon as the page opens.
  2. Click Flip again, or press Space or Enter, for another flip. The count under the coin keeps track of heads and tails since you opened the page.
  3. To flip many coins at once, raise Flips. Up to 30 coins are drawn; beyond that you get the list and the totals.

Making a decision with a coin

A coin flip is the simplest fair way to settle a choice between two options: who goes first, which film to watch, who pays. Say which side means which option before you flip. A useful trick: if you feel disappointed by the result, you’ve learned which option you actually wanted.

Flipping many coins

Raising the number of flips is a quick way to see probability at work. With 10 flips, 7 heads and 3 tails is common. With 10,000, the split almost always lands within about 1% of 50/50. That’s the law of large numbers, and it’s a nice classroom demonstration.
