How to convert MP4 to WebM

When WebM is useful

WebM is an open video format made for the web. Some websites offer it alongside MP4, some upload forms and apps only accept WebM, and Telegram video stickers must be WebM with VP9. It’s also a good choice when you want an open, royalty-free format.

Tips

  • Re-encoding is heavy work, so keep the tab open until every file is done.
  • To make the file smaller as well, trim it first with Trim video or shrink it with the video compressor.
  • To go back the other way, use WebM to MP4.
