Why change PDF metadata
A PDF often carries details you never typed: the author name from the computer it was made on, an old title from a template, or the name of the app and the exact time it was created. Before you send a CV, a quote or a report, check that the title describes it and the author is right. Removing the details is also a simple privacy step when a file goes out to people you don’t know.
What gets saved
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title, subject | Shown by readers and search engines; a clear title helps people find the file |
| Author | Often filled in from your computer’s user name |
| Keywords | Words for searching, separated by commas |
| Creator, producer | The apps that made the file |
| Created, modified | Dates readers show in Document Properties |
The pages themselves aren’t touched. PDFs can keep a second copy of these details in an XMP block; when there is one, saving removes it so no reader shows the old values from it.
