How to convert AAC to MP3
- Drop your AAC files into the box or choose them. You can convert several at once.
- MP3 is already selected. Each file is encoded at 192 kbps on your device.
- Download each MP3, or all of them together as a zip.
Where AAC files come from
AAC is the sound format used by iPhones, YouTube and many streaming services. Files that end in .aac usually come from voice recorder apps, recordings of internet radio and some older phones. They play fine on most new devices, but car stereos, older MP3 players and some editing apps and upload forms only accept MP3.
Tips
- If your file ends in .m4a, it’s AAC in a different container. M4A to MP3 has tips for iPhone voice memos and iTunes songs.
- Converting doesn’t make the sound better. If the AAC file already works where you need it, keep it as it is.
- To cut a part of the recording, convert it first and use Trim MP3.
