How to convert FLAC to MP3
- Drop your FLAC files into the box or choose them. You can add a whole album at once.
- MP3 is already selected. Each track is encoded at 192 kbps on your device.
- Download each MP3, or all of them together as a zip.
Why convert FLAC to MP3
FLAC is lossless: it shrinks audio without throwing anything away, which is why it’s popular for CD rips and music downloads from stores that sell lossless files. The catch is size and support. Many car stereos, older players and some apps don’t play FLAC, and lossless files fill a phone quickly. MP3 plays everywhere and takes far less space.
Keep the originals
Converting FLAC to MP3 is a one-way step. You can always make new MP3s from the FLAC, but you can’t get the lossless audio back from an MP3. Keep the FLAC files as your archive and treat the MP3s as copies for listening. If an app needs uncompressed audio instead, use FLAC to WAV.
