Why convert M4A to MP3
M4A plays well on Apple devices, but some car stereos, older MP3 players, editing apps and upload forms only take MP3. MP3 is the format almost everything accepts, so converting once saves you from “unsupported file” errors later.

To keep only part of a recording, convert it first and then cut it with Trim MP3. If you need an uncompressed file for editing or transcription software, use M4A to WAV instead.
