About hours and days
A day has 24 hours, so divide hours by 24 to get days. 36 hours is 1.5 days, 72 hours is 3 days and 100 hours is 4.17 days.
Countdowns, battery life ratings, shipping and processing times, fasting windows and project estimates are often given in hours. Turning a large number of hours into days makes them easier to plan around. This counts full 24-hour days, not working days.
Examples
- 40 h (a 40-hour work week) is 1.67 d
- 168 h (one week) is 7 d
- 1,000 h (an incandescent bulb rated for 1,000 hours) is 41.67 d
- 8,760 h (a 365-day year) is 365 d
