How to flip a video
- Drop your video into the box or choose it. You can add several videos at once.
- Under Flip, pick Mirror (left to right) to swap the sides, or Upside down (top to bottom). The flipped video plays next to the original so you can compare them.
- Download the flipped video.
When you need to flip a video
- Selfie clips with backwards text. The front camera shows you a mirror image while you film, and some phones keep it that way in the saved file.
- Dance and workout lessons. Teachers often film facing the class and mirror the video, so students can copy the moves without swapping left and right in their heads.
- Undoing someone else’s flip. If an app or a camera setting mirrored the video, flipping it the same way puts it back.
Upside down is the rarer choice. It’s mostly a creative effect, or a way to undo a vertical flip made somewhere else.
Mirror, upside down or rotate
The three look similar in a thumbnail but they aren’t the same. Pick by what you see in the video:
| What you see | What to use |
|---|---|
| Text reads backwards, the picture is the right way up | Mirror (left to right) |
| The picture is upside down, but text reads normally if you turn your head | Rotate 180° |
| The picture is upside down and text reads backwards | Upside down (top to bottom) |
| The picture lies on its side | Rotate 90° |
If you also want a new shape, such as square or vertical, crop the video after flipping it.
