How to add a border to an image

  1. Drop in your images, choose them, or paste a screenshot.
  2. Set the Border width, in pixels or as a percentage of the image, and pick a Colour. The same width is added to every side.
  3. Download the framed image, or all of them as a zip.

Ideas for borders

  • Square social posts. A white border around a square photo gives a clean, gallery-print look in a feed.
  • Print mats. A wide white or off-white border makes a print look matted. At 300 pixels per inch, a 300 px border prints about one inch wide.
  • Screenshots in documents. A thin grey border of 1 or 2 px, such as #dddddd, stops a white screenshot from melting into a white page.
  • Brand colours. Frame a set of product or event photos in the same colour so they look like one series.

Choosing the width

For an image around 1000 px wide, roughly 10 to 20 px reads as a thin line, 40 to 60 px as a classic white frame and 100 px or more as a wide gallery margin. Scale those up for larger photos.

For a double frame, add a thin dark border first, then run the result through again with a wide white one. To combine a frame with soft corners, add the border here and then use round image corners on the result.
