How to repeat text

  1. Type or paste what you want to repeat into Input. It can be one emoji, a word or several lines.
  2. Set Repeat to the number of copies and choose what goes between them under Separate with.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a text file.

Common uses

  • Testing how a form, database field or page layout copes with long input, such as a 5,000-character comment.
  • Making a row of emoji or a divider like ★★★★★ for a post or chat message.
  • Building test data, for example the same CSV row a few hundred times.
  • Writing out lines, the classic school punishment, or a handwriting practice sheet.

Testing character limits

To check a field’s limit, put a single character in the input, repeat it exactly as many times as the limit allows and choose Nothing as the separator. The field should accept that text and reject it with one more copy. The counter under the result shows the total length. Most emoji count as two characters there, because it measures text the way JavaScript does, so test with plain letters when the exact number matters.
