How to cross out text
- Type only the words you want crossed out into Input.
- A line runs through every character as you type. Spaces stay clear, so the line breaks between words.
- Copy it and paste it into your post, then type the rest of your message in plain text.
Ways people use crossed-out text
- The joke correction: “I̶ l̶o̶v̶e̶ M̶o̶n̶d̶a̶y̶s̶ I tolerate Mondays”, where the crossed-out part is what you’re pretending not to say.
- Price drops: “£̶4̶0̶ now £25” in a sale post or listing.
- Done items: ticking off a to-do or bucket list in a caption.
- Visible edits: showing what changed in a post rather than silently fixing it.
For mixed lines like these, cross out just the first part here, then type the plain part after pasting.
Getting rid of it again
The strokes travel with the text. Paste struck text into a document or a form and the line comes with it, and search won’t find the words underneath. The simplest fix is to retype the words. A tool that removes accents usually strips the strokes too, since it deletes combining marks.
