How to extract phone numbers from text
- Paste text that contains phone numbers into Input: an email signature, a contact page, a CSV or notes.
- Read the list in Phone numbers, one per line in the order they appear.
- Copy or download the list. Numbers keep the spacing and punctuation they had in the text.
Phone number formats
Countries group their digits differently, which is why the extractor accepts spaces, dots, dashes and brackets in any position rather than one fixed pattern.
| Where | Typical written format |
|---|---|
| International | +44 20 7946 0958 |
| UK | 020 7946 0958 |
| US and Canada | (415) 555-0132 or 415.555.0199 |
| France | 01 23 45 67 89 |
| Germany | 030 12345678 |
The 15-digit limit comes from E.164, the international numbering standard, which caps a full number including the country code at 15 digits.
What isn’t picked up
- Extensions: in “+44 20 7946 0958 ext. 204” you get the main number without the extension.
- Numbers spelled with letters, like 1-800-FLOWERS.
- Numbers written in words or broken up with other text.
Your text is processed in your browser and never uploaded, so it’s fine to paste a customer list or a page of contact details.
