How to compress an image to 50 KB

  1. Drop one or more images into the box, choose files, or paste a screenshot.
  2. The limit is set to 50 KB already. Change Format to JPG if the site only takes JPG.
  3. Download each file, or all of them as a zip.

Common reasons for a 50 KB limit

50 KB turns up on job portals and application forms for the applicant photo, on older content systems and forums for avatars and attachments, and in guides for email signature images, where a heavy logo slows down every message you send.

For an email signature, aim even lower if you can. The image is sent with each email, so a 50 KB logo across hundreds of messages adds up. A logo with a few flat colors is usually much smaller as a PNG than as a JPG.

How the size is reached

The tool tries the highest quality first and works downwards until the file fits. If even a low quality is too large, it makes the picture smaller in pixels and tries again. You get the best-looking file that stays under 50 KB, so it usually lands just below the limit.

To control the pixel size yourself, pick a Max size such as 800 px before compressing. If you need an exact width and height, use resize image first.
