How to compress an image to 100 KB

  1. Drop your images into the box, choose them, or paste a screenshot.
  2. The limit is set to 100 KB. Change it in Under (KB) if your form gives a different number.
  3. Compare before and after on the preview, then download one file or a zip of all of them.

Where a 100 KB limit comes from

100 KB is one of the most common upload limits: profile photos on forums and school systems, attachments in support forms, and photos on application forms for jobs and courses. It’s also a good target for images on your own website, since smaller images make a page load faster, especially on phones.

Tips for a sharper result

The fewer pixels you need, the more quality each one gets. If a site shows your photo at 400 pixels wide, a 4000-pixel original is wasted, and shrinking it first leaves room for a higher quality. Pick a Max size of 1280 or 800 px before compressing, or set an exact size with resize image.

Crop away borders, empty sky and anything else you don’t need. Busy detail such as grass, gravel and leaves costs the most bytes, so a photo against a plain background compresses much better than one taken in a garden.
