How to compress an image to 200 KB
- Drop your images into the box, choose files, or paste one.
- Each image is compressed to just under 200 KB. Pick WebP under Format for your own website, or JPG for forms.
- Download one image, or all of them as a zip.
200 KB for the web
Big photos are the main reason web pages load slowly. A photo straight from a phone is often several megabytes, which is far more than a screen needs. At 200 KB a photo still looks sharp across a laptop screen and loads quickly on mobile data, which is why it’s a common limit for blog images, shop listings and hero images.
For your own site, pick a Max size of 1920 px for full-width photos or 1280 px for images inside text, then let the tool find the best quality under 200 KB. WebP gets you more quality for the same size.
200 KB for forms
Upload forms for applications, claims and support tickets often allow 200 KB per image. Here JPG is the safe choice, as nearly every form accepts it. Scanned documents with small text should stay as large in pixels as the limit allows, so leave Max size on Original and let the tool lower the quality first. For a much bigger allowance, see compress image to 1 MB.
