How to practice times tables

  1. Choose multiplication (or division, addition, subtraction or a mix) and click table numbers to leave out the ones you don’t want. All twelve are on to start; None turns them all off so you can pick just one.
  2. Pick a 60-second sprint, a set of 20 questions or a custom length in seconds or questions. Press Start, then type each answer and press Enter or Check.
  3. At the end you see your score, accuracy and speed, and every fact you missed. Practice the ones I missed runs a round of just those.

Tips for learning times tables

Start with the 1, 2, 5 and 10 tables. They follow simple patterns, and once they’re quick the rest feel smaller. The switch-around trick helps too: 3 × 8 is the same as 8 × 3, so every fact you learn covers two questions.

After each round, practice the facts you missed on their own. A short round of just those does more than another full round, and the list at the end shows which ones to work on. Short daily sessions of a few minutes suit this kind of recall practice better than one long session a week.
