How to make and study flashcards

  1. Open Edit cards, name the deck and type a front and back for each card. To add many at once, paste a list with one card per line, such as "apple - la manzana".
  2. Go back to Study. Read the front, think of the answer, then press the card or Space to flip it.
  3. Press I know it or Still learning. Cards you're still learning come back in the next round, until you know every card.

Getting more out of flashcards

  • Keep each card to one fact. “Capital of Peru: Lima” works better than a card with a paragraph on the back.
  • Write cards in your own words. Making the cards is already half of the learning.
  • Study both directions. For a language, learn English to Spanish and Spanish to English; the second is often harder.
  • Space it out. Ten minutes a day for a week beats an hour the night before. A pomodoro timer helps keep sessions short.
