How to play Pyramid Solitaire

  1. Pick two uncovered cards that add up to 13 and they leave the table. An ace counts 1, a jack 11 and a queen 12; a king is 13 on its own, so one click removes it.
  2. A card in the pyramid is uncovered once both cards resting on it are gone. The top card of the waste pile can pair too.
  3. Stuck? Click the deck to turn over the next card. Clear all 28 pyramid cards to win.

Tips for winning Pyramid Solitaire

  • Work on the lower rows first. The bottom row is free from the start, and clearing it uncovers the rows above. Cards high in the pyramid need many removals before they can be used.
  • Look before you pair. When two cards could pair with the same card, take the one that uncovers more of the pyramid.
  • Don’t rush the deck. Every card you turn and pass by may come back only on a later pass, or not at all. Make every pyramid pair you can before turning the next card.
  • Remember what’s in the deck. If you know a matching card is coming, you can leave a pyramid card for it and use another pair now.
  • Kings are free moves. A king comes off on its own, so take it as soon as it’s uncovered; it only ever blocks the cards under it.

About the game

Pyramid is a solitaire card game played with one deck. Twenty-eight cards are dealt face up in a pyramid of seven rows, each row overlapping the one above, and the other 24 form the deck. You remove pairs that add up to 13 until the pyramid is cleared. This version can deal only games that are possible to win, lets you choose how many times you go through the deck, and keeps your wins and best time on this device.
