What is the A1Z26 cipher?
A simple code that replaces each letter with its position in the alphabet: A is 1, B is 2 and so on up to Z, which is 26. HELLO becomes 8-5-12-12-15. It's popular in puzzle hunts, escape rooms, geocaching and children's activity books.
How do I decode numbers back into letters?
Paste the numbers and leave the mode on Detect, or choose Numbers to letters. Numbers joined by dashes or dots form one word, and spaces start the next. If only spaces are used, put a slash or two spaces between words.
What happens to punctuation and digits?
Punctuation stays next to the word it follows. Digits in your text are marked with # (#7), so they can't be mistaken for letters.
Is it secure?
No. Anyone can decode it in seconds, so use it for fun and puzzles only. For a real secret, use a password manager or proper encryption.
