How to play Go Fish
- Pick how many computer players to play against. With one or two, everyone gets 7 cards; with three, 5 cards each. The rest of the deck is the pond.
- On your turn, click a card to ask for that rank. With more than one opponent, then click the player to ask. You can only ask for a rank you already hold.
- If they have any, they give you all of them and you ask again. If not, they say Go fish: you draw from the pond, and if it’s the card you asked for, you go again.
- Four cards of a rank make a book, laid down at once. When all 13 books are made, the player with the most wins.
Tips for winning at Go Fish
- Listen to what others ask for. A player asking for queens has at least one queen. Ask them for queens when you get one.
- Ask for what you have most of. With three of a rank, one more card makes a book, so that’s the best rank to ask about.
- Ask the player with the most cards. A bigger hand is more likely to hold what you need.
- Remember what you gave away. If you handed over your fives, the player who asked now holds them.
About Go Fish
Go Fish is a simple card game for two or more players, played with a standard 52-card deck. It’s often the first card game children learn, and many families have their own small rule changes, such as how many cards to deal or whether a lucky draw earns another turn. This version uses the most common rules, with computer players to ask.
