How to count the days until a date

Counting down in days and weekdays
Here is the count from Tuesday 1 December 2026 to a few dates:

Weekdays and weekend days always add up to the total. Today is left out of both and the target date is counted, so a Friday deadline counts as a weekday.
Weeks, months and hours
The note under the number shows the countdown in weeks to one decimal place. Past 30 days it adds an estimate in months, using an average month of 30.44 days because real months run from 28 to 31 days. For an exact count in months, the date calculator adds whole months for you.
The Hours (whole days) row is the number of days times 24. It counts whole days from today’s date to the target date, so it doesn’t change during the day and doesn’t look at the time on your clock. For a countdown in hours, minutes and seconds that beeps at the end, use the online timer instead.
