Why convert BMP to JPG
BMP files are big because most of them store every pixel without compression. That makes them slow to email, too large for many upload forms, and unsupported on some websites and phones. JPG is accepted almost everywhere and makes photos a fraction of the size.
JPG or PNG
JPG suits photos and scans of photos. For screenshots, diagrams, logos and anything with text or flat colours, PNG is the better target: it’s lossless and still far smaller than BMP. Switch the format to PNG above, or use the image converter for any other combination.
