Ideas for one minute
A minute is long enough to do something properly and short enough to say yes to. Classic uses are the one-minute speech in a class or club, a wall sit or plank, a quick stretch for each side, a round of a minute-to-win-it party game, and timed worksheets such as times-table drills, which many teachers call mad minutes.
It’s also the length of the “one-minute rule” for keeping a home tidy: if a job takes less than a minute, such as hanging up a coat or answering a short email, do it now. Setting a timer for a single minute shows how much fits into it.
One minute of speaking
A 1 minute timer is a handy way to check a short talk, a voicemail greeting or an elevator pitch. Read it aloud at a relaxed pace with the timer running, and cut words until you finish before the alarm. To check how fast you type instead, take the 1 minute typing test.
