How to play Sea Battle
- Place your five ships on your grid: drag a ship to move it, click it to turn it, or press Shuffle ships for a random layout. With a keyboard, Tab to a ship, move it with the arrow keys and press R to turn it. Then press Start battle.
- Click a square in enemy waters to fire. A red peg means a hit, a dot means a miss. When every square of a ship is hit, it sinks and its outline shows.
- You and the computer take turns. The first to sink the other side’s whole fleet wins.
Tips for winning at Sea Battle
- Hunt on a checkerboard. Every ship covers at least two squares, so firing at every other square still finds them all with half the shots.
- Finish what you start. After a hit, sink that ship before hunting elsewhere. Two hits in a row tell you which way it runs.
- Use the sunk ships. When a ship sinks, you know its length. Cross it off and look for the longest gap the remaining ships could fit in.
- Spread out your fleet. Ships in a cluster can be found together. Keep them apart and avoid lining them up along an edge every game.
About the game
Sea Battle is a guessing game for two players, each with a fleet hidden on a 10 by 10 grid. Players take turns calling squares to fire at, and the other side says hit or miss, until one fleet is sunk. It began as a pencil-and-paper game and became famous as the board game Battleship. This version plays against the computer at three levels and keeps your wins and best game on this device.
