About meters and inches
A meter is 39.3701 inches, so multiply meters by 39.3701 to get inches. For a quick estimate multiply by 40, which comes out about 1.6% high: 2 m gives 80 inches against the exact 78.74.
This is handy when a metric measurement has to be marked out with a US tape measure, or when a height in meters needs to become feet and inches. Going through inches first makes the feet and inches step easy.
