About liters and gallons
A US gallon is exactly 3.785411784 liters, so divide liters by 3.7854 to get US gallons. One liter is 0.264172 gallons, a little over a quarter.
Fuel, water tanks and paint come up most. The UK gallon is a different unit of 4.54609 liters, about 20% bigger, so one liter is only 0.219969 UK gallons. This converter gives US gallons.
