How to do a jigsaw puzzle online

  1. Pick how many pieces: 12 for a quick puzzle, 96 for a long one. Press Use a photo to make a puzzle from your own picture.
  2. Drag a piece onto its place in the frame. When it's close, it snaps in and stays. The faint picture in the frame shows where pieces go; untick it for a harder game.
  3. Press Sort edge pieces out to group the edge pieces apart from the middle ones, the usual way to start. The timer starts with your first move.

How to solve a jigsaw puzzle

  • Edges first. Edge pieces have one straight side and corner pieces two. Build the border, then work inward.
  • Sort by color. Group pieces that share a color or texture, such as sky, trees or a face.
  • Look at the shapes. When colors look alike, the number and direction of the tabs tell pieces apart.
  • Find distinct details, like a sun or a line, and place those pieces first as landmarks.
