How to convert GIF to PNG
- Drop your GIF files into the box or choose them. You can convert many at once.
- PNG is already selected, so there’s nothing to set.
- Download each PNG, or all of them together as a zip.
A still image, not an animation
This converter makes one PNG per GIF, taken from the first frame. That’s what you want for a thumbnail, a cover image or a still to edit. If the first frame isn’t the one you need, or you want to keep the movement, an animation format is the better choice: GIF to MP4 keeps the motion in a small video, and Compress GIF shrinks the GIF itself.
Why PNG suits GIF images
GIFs are usually logos, icons, simple graphics and old web images with flat colours. PNG is lossless, so it keeps those sharp edges and colours exactly, and it supports transparency. Converting to JPG instead would add blur around edges and fill transparent areas with a solid colour.
