How to convert CMYK to RGB
- Type the CMYK value into Color as cmyk(0%, 60%, 80%, 10%): cyan, magenta, yellow, then black.
- The RGB and HEX values appear on the right.
- Click a value to copy it.
Print colors on a screen
CMYK describes ink: how much cyan, magenta, yellow and black is printed on paper. Screens make color from red, green and blue light instead, so a CMYK value from a print designer, a paint chart or a logo spec needs converting before it can go into CSS, a slide deck or a web design tool.
The formula here is the plain conversion that most online converters and design tools use when no color profile is set. It’s a good match for brand colors and mockups.
Colors that look different in print
Screens can show some bright colors that ink can’t print, and the reverse is true for a few deep cyans and greens. That’s why a logo can look duller on paper than on screen. If a printer gave you the CMYK values, they already allow for this, and the RGB result shows roughly how the print will look. Going the other way, from a screen color to ink, use RGB to CMYK.
