How to play Chinese Checkers
- Pick 2, 3, 4 or 6 players and whether the others are the computer or friends. You play red, starting in the bottom point of the star. Against the computer you also choose who starts.
- On your turn, move one marble: a single step to a neighboring hole, or a jump over one marble (anyone’s) into the empty hole behind it. Jumps can chain, and the highlighted holes show every place a chain can reach.
- The first player to move all ten marbles into the point of the star opposite their start wins.
Tips for winning at Chinese Checkers
- Build ladders. Marbles spaced one hole apart in a line let you chain jumps across the board. Set them up for yourself and break up your opponent’s.
- Don’t leave stragglers. One marble left at home can cost many turns at the end, since it has no one left to jump over.
- Move the back marbles early. The marbles at the tip of your starting point have the farthest to go. Bring them out while there are still marbles to jump over.
- Fill the target from the tip. Send the first marbles to the far end of the target point, so later ones have room to settle.
About the game
Chinese Checkers is a race game played on a six-pointed star with 121 holes. Each player tries to move all ten of their marbles from one point of the star to the point directly opposite, by stepping or jumping over other marbles. It can be played by two, three, four or six players. This version plays against the computer at two levels or with friends on one device.
