How to make your screen white
- Press Full screen, press F, or click the white preview. The whole screen turns white.
- To change it, pick Black, Warm white or another colour, or type any colour code under Any colour. Use Brightness to dim it.
- Press Esc, or move the mouse or tap and press Exit, to leave full screen.
What people use a white screen for
- Light for video calls and photos. A bright screen in front of you fills in shadows on your face. Warm white looks more natural than pure white in most rooms.
- Cleaning the screen. Dust, hairs and streaks show up clearly on white. Switch to black to see fingerprints and smears.
- Tracing. A tablet on full white works as a small light box.
- Checking the screen. An even white shows patchy backlights and yellow tints. For dead or stuck pixels, the dead pixel test steps through nine test colours.
- A quick torch. A phone on full white gives enough light to find something in a dark room.
Brightness and colour
The Brightness slider darkens the colour itself, from 100% down to 5%. It doesn’t change your device’s own brightness setting, so for the brightest possible white, turn the device brightness up too.
Any colour works. Type a code such as #FFE4C4, a colour name like skyblue, or click the swatch next to Any colour to pick one. Red at low brightness is gentle on night vision; green is useful as a plain backdrop behind something you’re filming.
