How to tune a ukulele
- Ukulele is already selected with standard G C E A tuning. Pick Low G or Baritone under Tuning if your ukulele uses one. Press Start and allow the microphone.
- Pluck one string and let it ring. The tuner shows which string it hears, a needle and how many cents you are off.
- Turn the peg until the needle is centred and it says In tune. Click a string's letter to hear its note if you'd rather tune by ear.
Tuning a ukulele step by step
Hold the ukulele as you would to play it and start with the A string, the one nearest the floor, since it matches the A that many other instruments tune to. Then tune E, C and finally G. After all four, go round once more: tightening one string pulls slightly on the neck and can nudge the others out.
If a string is far off, the tuner may mistake it for the next string along. Click that string’s letter so the tuner listens only for that note, bring the string close, and then click Detect the string to go back to automatic mode.
